Chemistry and Biochemistry
Assistant Professor
Our research group is interested in light activated processes in molecules and materials. Projects in our lab include the synthesis, characterization, and application of these materials.
Bio
Andrew Pun is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UCSD, His research focuses on the design and synthesis of photoactive organic molecules for applications in materials science, catalysis, and renewable energy. After attending UC Berkeley for his undergraduate, Andrew received his PhD from Columbia University, where he investigated novel photoactive compounds and their electronic properties. Prior to joining UC San Diego, he conducted postdoctoral research at ETH Zürich, specializing in the synthesis and characterization of colloidal nanocrystals with tailored optical and electronic properties. His work bridges fundamental chemistry with practical applications, contributing to advancements in sustainable technologies and materials.
