Research Summary

Prof. Qiao is interested in the fundamentals of thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, as well as their applications in advanced materials and complex systems. His recent research focuses on locally nonchaotic components and weakly interacting particles.

Bio

Yu Qiao received his BS degree in applied mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1994, and his MS degree in materials science from the CAS Institute of Mechanics in 1997. In 2002, he received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and joined the faculty of the University of Akron. He joined UCSD in 2006.
